For my audience research, I made a short questionnaire about my music magazine on a whole, and some questions specifically on the front cover. This is what the questionnaire looked like:
My target audience is 15-21 year olds, so I gave my questionnaire to a range of 34 males and females of this age group and gathered their information to have the following results;
1. Males: 17
Females: 17
2. All 34 said that 'The Music Now' makes them think of the pop genre.
3. The three most popular colours to associate with the genre were black, white and blue.
4. There was an almost tie between 'Good looking female' and 'Good looking male' but 16 said 'Good looking female' and 13 said 'Good looking male'.
5. Stories around the image was the most suggested idea.
6. £4.50 was the most picked price for a magazine with 19 people picking it.
7. There was a wide variety for the final answer, but 'freebies' and 'interesting artists' were the most recurring theme.
I have took this information well into consideration when creating my magazine.
I have a 'good looking female' as my front cover and main artist, and I have made the artists name and quote interesting so that it attracts the potential readers attention.
Blue is an important colour on my front cover as it the colour of the story titles.
I have included the promotion of free posters and interesting artists on my front cover as well.
